Our lessons have been going off without a hitch, and the groups we have taught thus far have been incredible to say the least. In the first half of this year we taught with children from Kungwini Welfare Organisation (KWO). Working in conjunction with the PSYCHE society of the University of Pretoria, we were able to teach a group of special-needs children.
This definitely proved to be one of the highlights of the year, as the enthusiasm and interest the children showed was awe-inspiring and truly showed that every child, no matter their circumstances, should be given the opportunity to learn about their country’s natural heritage!
SYMCO, a symposium for vets hosted by The Veterinary Faculty at Onderstepoort contacted LiC in hopes to collaborate with us and do some work with children during their 3 week ‘tour’. We thought it was a great way for the children from Siyanqoba Feeding Foundation (where it all began for us, see our first blog!) to get some extra exposure to the great outdoors.
We were joined at Tshikwalo Game Lodge by SYMCO where we were privileged enough to present a lesson to the children and the group of foreign vet students from 22 different countries! Following the lessons, the vet students and Children went off on game drives for the first-hand experience of all they had learnt.
